I think, that the oil prices will arise, when economical situation will be better. Then this system gives more independence in transport. I think, You have great future in producing this generators, congratulations.

you have my deepest respect and admiration for your time and effort, not only to build a wood gas car and tractor, but also for documenting it (long and troublesome with all the construction going) for all of us round the world who are interested in wood gas vehicles.
all i can say is a big "Thank You!"
i hope one day i'll have the possibility to construct my own wood gas car (even better, or tractor), when the situation allows it!
wood gas trucks are used in North Korea today. i don't know if they use coal or wood, but they do drive around on this tech.
anway, type "wood gas lorry", and have a look. truck is a copy of an older russian design.
i'm not sure if it's the right place to post this, but:
what do you think of "open top gasifier" suggested by FEMA? it has no air nozzles, the oxigen comes down from open top. it supposedly works, but i don't know if there is always enough oxigen coming down to the combustion zone....
also if you need translation of german texts, DO contact me and i'll be happy to translate it!

Fantastiskt kul att se någon som hade samma tanke som jag, men mer kunskap om bilar som kunde pilla till det. Tänk om man kunde få en kommersiell produkt, det vore hur coolt som helst. Jag kan sätta en spänn på att folk skulle vara sugna med dagens bensinpriser, och miljötänket i bagaget. Lycka till med framtida projekt, gården och allt det andra. Jag såg insattsen i Planet Mechanic på nätet och blev nyfiken på vad ni hittat på i sverige. Det var ju med ett filmklipp på vedbilen.se Fastnade så klart och såg allt från bygge till resa. FAN va kul...Jag gillar olika lösningar på energi och drivmedel som gör att man kan mecka själv. Bra karl reders ig själv :)

mycket trevlig att det är någon som bygger sådana här saker. Så detta på tv. Det var en väldig intressant teori om hur man kund utveckla detta med gengas. Jag tror att det skulle funka på lantbruks traktor (mindre traktor). hoppas att ni forsätter med det med gengas.

Kul med gengas Volvon. Jag kom över en Dodge Maxivan, en lång en. Skulle gå att göra gengas bil av. Kan man kanske ha allt inomhus, och lätt att dra rören. Har byggt lite konstiga bilar jag förut. Hello from the middle of nowhere, better known as Okanogan, WA.
I used to work in the timber industry here, but the local plywood plant shut down. So now I'm back in college at the age of 44 and spending just enough time in the house as to drive a good woman crazy some days. But it's too cold to fish and my best friend is a tractor mechanic by trade and I seem to recall that not too long ago his dad had mentioned that the Germans used to run cars and light trucks on wood smoke.
This led to some searching on the Internet, which led to some photos of some restored "holzbrenners" and some plans for an ineffective looking little gassifer from FEMA that doesn't look like it could power a rototiller.
Which brought me to a good American site, which linked me to you guys.
Circutuous I know, but the point is I got here.
So before I take my beloved 1990 Ford F150 4x4 into the shop and start doing horrible things to its 4.9 liter inline six is there anything you would be kind enough to warn me about?
Don't know about Sweden, but in America it's customer to either start laughing really hard or perhaps warn the other guy BEFORE he fires up the cutting torch. :) (I'm just joking!)
Seriously though, I loved your project and would like to know more about how to make this happen. There is a lot of orchard in this part of the pacific northwest, so apple, cherry, pear, and other fruit woods are not hard to get. We also have a lot of native pine, aspen, poplar, and willow trees as well; and if burning cattle dung is a possibilitiy then there is a lot of that on local farms as well.
So any advice is appreciated.

...mycket intressant projekt ni har genomfört!
Detta gjorde att jag genforskarde efter gengas agregat till min traktor OLIVER 25 från 1939.
Sökte alla ägare till denna klenod och fann det agregatet som har varit monterat just på min OLIVER, hos första ägaren som köpte traktorn ny 1939 i Kvänum.
Allt komplett utom hjärtat till det hela, "grytan" saknades. Men var med för några veckor sedan och bildade "Lekebergs Motorveteraner" och han som satt bredvid mig hade en gryta som jag köpte (Joh: Källander Stockholm) så nu är det komplett. Bilder finns om intresse finns att se hur det ser ut.

Jättespännande med gengas.
Jag är övertygad om att vi alla kommer att tvingas söka alternativ till petrokemiska bränslen inom en snarare framtid än som kan anas av den värsta olycksprofeten.
Problemet är att alla trygghetsnarkomaner vaknar sist och de är 95% i detta överbeskyddade land. När dessa äntligen fattar att ingen finns till hjälp när det kommer till kritan, så blir det en ketchupeffekt.
Då vill jag redan besitta kunskaperna.
Så jag har funnit gengas.

Denna hemsida och Bimgas.se är minst sagt imponerande i framförhållningen.

Är en stor fan av Dick Strawbridges program med ekologi och teknisk inriktning, och såg nu precis det sista programmet av "Planet Mechanics" där de försöker sig på en vedbil. Samtidigt som jag spontant berättade för min fru att sådana fanns i Sverige under andra världskriget, så tog hela programmet en svensk riktning, och plötsligt står Johan där med Svenska Säkerhetständstickor - haha, helt mästerligt.
Imponerande projekt måste jag säga, ha det kul, ha det bra, och sprid edra kunskaper. |

Det finns ett system som skiljer vätgas och syre i från vatten med ström bara för att spruta in det i lyftintaget så att man får det å brinna renare och effektivare. nyttan med det e minskad bränslebrukning och större effekt
Det skulle vara intressant att veta hur detta funkar med gengas. Jag tänker själv prova på att laga en sån greja ifall jag får en sans. om du undersöker denna lingk kan du hitta anvisning på att bygga en sådan burk om du är intresserad.

Hi Guys, Wow what a site. I first saw you on Planet Mechanics and noticed your home link on your car. Enthusiastic over your project. I have this kit with water4gas that I bought in Minnesota, but I havn't set it up in my own car yet, I don't understand it fully. I wish I could find someone who could help me set it up. I was so surprised to learn that wood produces gas. I'd love to see your car sometime. "Congratuations" with your vedbil.

Amazing stuff lads! i just the planet mechanics show with the wood gas truck. I live in Revelstoke BC Canada and there is plenty of wood around. also we are in the middle of a pine beetle infestation which is leaving us with thousands of acres of "useless" dead trees. sounds like perfect fuel for sustainable transportation. perhaps i will build a wood gas truck for shuttling people to the top of our downhill mountain bike area. long live old tech!

This is such a great idea! I have a cottage 2 hours from my home in Toronto, Canada which is surrounded by trees. It would be fun to build my own wood burning car! I heard about you via Planet Mechanics, what sheer genius! Thanks!

Kul med gengas. I min barndom hade alla bilar gengasaggregat, dvs de som behövde köra bil,
exempelvis provinsialläkaren. Lastbilarna luktade lång väg - inte helt avskräckande. Tvärtom! Chaufförerna varnade ibland oss barn att hålla oss på behörigt avständ, eftersom det inte var helt hälsosam gas, den där gengasen.
Hoppas ni fortsätter experimentera med ved och annat förnyelsebart... |

My name is George and I am from Greece. I have been reading and researching about wood gas for quite some time now. I have now started working on modifying a lawn mower for burning wood gas and I was wondering if using Wood pellet would be better as the water content will be much lower (10%).I guess that like that I would not need to have a water tank but just a cooler.

Hi!!
I found your wood-gas blog very, very interesting! I am from Italy and also live in a farm, my family used to produce milk for the local milk-company, but had to close in 1984, when I was a kid of 12.
I'm also planning to re-start the farm in some way, the problem is that the tillable land is not so much, we have 3 plot of land for a total of around 15.000 square metres.
Keep on with the organic farming and wood-gas engine.
I Italy we have many problems with the vehicle test agancy, as by law it is forbidden to make modification on vehicles without the written consent of the original manufacturer! Is like sending a letter to Volvo and say: Hey, I want to install a woodgas producer in teh car, would you sign this paper that says that the car respects the original specification anyway??
What would you expect??
Maybe in the future I will bother you again with some advico on a Fixed woodgas producer I have in mind to power the farm (electricity and hot water).
